Archos 101 XS firmware

$

I am tried to update to 4.1 with the firmware from their website. Sadly, on the step where i need to copy the AOS file, the file size of the update file is bigger than the size of the archos drive.

Update file size: ~284 MB
Drive size: ~230 MB

Links of older firmwares from archos are dead now.

I am hoping if some of you guys still has copy of it?

Howto - root arcos 80 xs

Hi,

i just found a way to root the 80 xs you need Linux for it (i think a Virtual machine should do but i didn't test it).
FIRST OF ALL YOU CAN BRICK YOUR DEVICE AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT

Based on "Rooting the Cube U30GT rk3066 android tablet" i think a copy and past version makes it more easy ;)
http://valentijn.sessink.nl/?p=382

download
superuser and su from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1835502

rkflashtool to readout your system
http://sourceforge.net/projects/rkflashtool

and linux_upgrade_tool to upload your modified system image
http://dl.radxa.com/rock/tools/linux/

put all (even Superuser.apk and su from the archive) in top of one directory (/home/user/archos) connect your device to the pc

open a terminal

get root

# cd archos
# adb reboot bootloader

# ./rkflashtool r 0x0000 0x2000 > /tmp/parm

# head -11 /tmp/parm
search for system, there you have the position of your system just to be sure if its the same for you ;)
Code:

PARMDFIRMWARE_VER:4.0.4
MACHINE_MODEL:ARCHOS 80XSK
MACHINE_ID:007
MANUFACTURER:RK30SDK
MAGIC: 0x5041524B

CHECK_MASK: 0x80
KERNEL_IMG: 0x60408000
#RECOVER_KEY: 1,1,0,20,0
CMDLINE: console=ttyFIQ0 androidboot.console=ttyFIQ0 init=/init initrd=0x62000000,0x00800000 mtdparts=rk29xxnand:0x00002000@0x00002000(misc),0x00004000@0x00004000(kernel),0x00008000@0x00008000(boot),0x00008000@0x00010000(recovery),0x00100000@0x00018000(backup),0x0003a000@0x00118000(cache),0x00002000@0x00152000(kpanic),0x00100000@0x00154000(system),-@0x00254000(userdata)

# ./rkflashtool r 0x00154000 0x00100000 > system
# cp system new
# mkdir /mnt/img
# mount new /mnt/img
# cp su /mnt/img/bin/
# cp Superuser.apk /mnt/img/app/
# chown root:2000 /mnt/img/bin/su
# chmod 6774 /mnt/img/bin/su
# umount /mnt/img
# ./upgrade_tool di -s new
# ./rkflashtool b

and if all went right open terminal on the tablet and type su and watch superuser to come up
now you can install AdAway from F-Droid and be happy :)

Hi,
i repleaced the digitizer+lcd of a qilive 53 with the digitizer+lcd of an archos 53 platinum. The home, back and menù button don't work anymore, they turn on, have light but the pression not work...when i first boot up the phone with new digitizer i saw a "upgrade touch firmware in progress" and then started.

There is a way to solve this? Can i flash archos 53 firmware on qilive? (it's a rebrand) or do i have to flash only touch firmware?

thank you

Hi,
I want to gain root access on my device but i can't find info for this specify device and i don't want to make a mess.
This is the data from the information menu under option.
Code:

Model: Xenon 101c
Android: 4.4.2
Base band:  MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V35, 2014/03/27 19:58
Kernel: 3.4.67
Build number: HT7.101.AKS.KK.B18.WXGA.1G.16G.LVDS.1101.V3.10
Build version: HT7

This should be a Gen10 tablet. I read of a custom archos firmware that enable root access but one time i tried to boot on recovery and everything was write in chinese
edit: Sorry i ended up posting on the wrong section. Is too hot here.

Archos 50c Neon: Rooted with KingRoot, replaced, but unable to use SuperSU

Hello Archos community,

I have bought the new Archos 50c Neon in early July, because of its nice price-performance ratio and the fact that it runs Android 4.4.2.

I have been able to successfully root it using Chinese "KingRoot", but am looking for an alternative SuperUser app. I already own a license of SuperSU Pro (which I am using for my tablet), but it turns out that the current versions of SuperSU (both 2.46 and 2.49) currently cause a crash when calling "su" from adb - seemingly because the Dalvik VM is unable to instantiate class "android.os.Environment" from SuperSU code when SuperSU wants to display its UI dialog that asks for permission. For the detailed issue description, please see here:

My thread in XDA SuperSU forum: Crash when trying to run su

Unfortunately, Chainfire (the author of SuperSU) from his signature is "away for most of the summer", and I will wait until he's back and then point him to this issue one more time.

In the meantime, I have created a script to successfully remove all remains/remnants of KingRoot (after successful rooting with it) and replace it by Koushik Dutta's OpenSource Superuser package:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...utta.superuser
http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/superuser

I have attached a ZIP file to this post that includes everything needed to do so - here are the instructions:
Please note that I do not take any responsibilities in case you brick your device, and also note that you void your warranty for the phone when rooting (these should be clear anyway)!
  1. Reset your Neon 50c to factory settings (optional, might be needed in case you run into issues otherwise when removing KingRoot)
  2. Unzip the attached ZIP and copy its contents to the root of the internal SD storage on your 50c Neon (directory /sdcard)
  3. Use the included kingroot_4.0.0.apk to root your phone (allowing to install apks from untrusted sources)
  4. Then, from your PC, open an "adb shell" to your device (you need to activate developer mode and USB debugging in order to do so)
  5. From this adb shell, execute "su" and allow this root access through the KingRoot dialog on your phone. You now have a root shell on your phone.
  6. Open a second adb root shell in the same way to not become stuck in case something goes wrong with the first one
  7. In the first adb root shell, cd to /sdcard and execute my script in the following way:
    Code:

    cd /sdcard
    sh -x ./kingroot_2_koush_su.sh ./busybox ./superuser.zip

and while it is running, press enter three times when "ps | grep king" and "ps | grep k_" show whether there are still processes running on your device that are related to KingRoot. General rule here is: When there are processes still running for the first ("ps | grep king"), something went wrong and KingRoot uninstall will most probably fail, while the fact that only processes matching the second ("ps | grep k_") are found, is normal and will NOT stop the script from working successfully.
  8. When the script has finished, your phone will do a "soft reboot" (from killing zygote). You should do another explicit "hard" reboot afterwards anyway before trying to use the newly installed Superuser package.
I have run this script myself on my device, and am pretty confident that after the script has run successfully, there are no remains/remnants of KingRoot left on my device. The Open Source Superuser app by Koushik Dutta runs without any issues.

Hope this helps - and am still looking for some help with why SuperSU crashes on the 50c Neon although it seemingly has been installed properly...

Best regards,
awl

Hi,

I've got this 13" tablet stuck on boot logo.

I tried to get to stock recovery but I don't know how. I've tried many different methods, still no luck.

Laptop is on chip allwinner a10.

Or is there chance to flash different recovery and to do factory defaults?

Bootloaders

There seems to be plenty of information about the bootloaders on the Gen7 and Gen8 devices, but has anyone made any threads or done any research into the boot process on Archos' newer devices? Is the first-stage boot loader still left unverified by the chip like it was on prior generations (allowing for hacks like Moldy Cheese)? I'd be happy to hear some answers.

Hi,
just wondering if someone tried to build a custom rom for this specific device..

I tried searching a lot on the internet but didn't find anything usefull till now, maybe I missed something or due to the fact this device is partially unkown, maybe who knows preferred to keep it for itself.

So please, do someone know anything about it?
It's the support for this wonderfull tablet really ended?
